Camping, Camping

by Elizabeth Morgan

Leisure time is very important to everyone. After spending five days of pressure-filled work, many people long for a pleasure-filled weekend for rest and recreation. But then, hanging around the apartment or home can be pretty boring. People who have access to a countryside cottage are lucky to communicate with Nature for a few days. What about others? Is there a way out? No problem, there are plenty of possibilities to enjoy by going camping.
Most campers decide on a destination, find a place, and want to return to the wilderness again to spend longer periods of time. Camping recharges people! It is always advisable, particularly for novice campers, to practice by taking a few shorter camps in the beginning to lessen anticipation and assumptions related to new environments.
Before embarking on a camping trip, one needs to become acquainted with the terms and equipment associated with this interesting activity. He needs to decide where he wants to go camping. Based on the camping destination, he has to take some basic equipment such as a sleeping bag, tent, backpacks, altimeters, compasses, coolers, hammocks and climbing gear. Many campers turn camping into a wonderful experience where their hobbies and spare time activities such as photography, painting or strumming the guitar come to the fore, making themselves and others happy.
All campers need a few essential things that can be categorized under broad headings: Shelter, Food, Clothes and Personal Hygiene. The most important thing is the medical kit that contains Band-Aids, topical antibiotics and medicines such as over the counter Imodium AD. Flashlights are crucial, as the camping site may not have electricity. It is better to carry extra flashlight cells. Lack of pure water can cause dehydration and, if severe, lead to death. Hence, water filtration units and water purification tablets are crucially essential when the water supply runs out. Campers need to take care of themselves and, no less importantly, of Nature. After all, the very camping site is a wonderful gift of Nature. So it deserves at least as much respect as one’s home. It is important that campers should keep the site free from any litter. Camping is a wonderfully refreshing activity that can make life complete.
