Camping, Camping Gear

by Elizabeth Morgan

Camping gear enhances the fun and comfort of the camping experience, whether it is hiking, fishing, backpacking, canoeing, rafting, or just going for an outing. People of all ages enjoy camping. A growing number of young people prefer spending their weekends fishing, hiking, and bird watching - to sitting in front of the computer. In fact camping is an energy rejuvenator and a source of great joy if done properly.
The prime requirement to make a camping experience absolutely enjoyable is to carry appropriate camping gear to the site. A set of camping gear basically consists of essential equipment to satisfy the accommodation, food, clothing and health needs. A near complete camping gear should consist of shelter equipment (tent, tarp, sleeping bag and headrest); cooking and dining equipment (charcoal chimney, smoker, Dutch oven or Butane lighter, water, cooler, mess kit, charcoal and can opener); clothes (t-shirts, shorts, jeans, shoes or boots, socks camp shoes, hat or cap, sweater, rain poncho, swim suit, laundry bag); personal hygiene equipment (tooth brush, tooth paste, wash rags, towels, soap, comb or brush, nail clippers, razor and toilet paper); and cleaning items (brooms, dust pan, dish pan, dish rags or scrubbers and detergent).
The most important item in the camping gear would be the first aid kit. It consists of personal medication, bandages, Tylenol, medical tape, sterile gauze, antiseptic wipes, antibiotic cream, burn ointment, sunburn lotion, eye wash, sanitary napkins, insect or snake bite kit, Chuck Box and herbs and spices.
Other items included in the camping gear would be binoculars, bug spray, bungee cords, camera, candles, playing cards or board games, cell phone, clothes pins, flashlight, GPS, lantern, matches, pen and paper, ropes, sun block, water filters and whistle. There are several camp gear stores in all parts of the US and Canada, where people can rent them and enjoy their camping.
