Stories, A Mother Always Knows

by Mary Potter

Allison was behaving just like a typical teenager. And like most teenagers she wanted to do things that her parents forbid her to do and was hanging out with a few questionable friends. Her mother, Monica, had the sense that Allison was out doing things that she would never approve of, but Allison was very careful not to get caught and seemed to always stay just one step ahead of her. So Monica could never catch her in the act. Even though her report card showed her grades had fallen to straight C's Allison desperately wanted a cell phone of her own. Since Monica had done her homework on cell phones and came up with a plan, she bit her tongue and offered to get Allison a cell phone. The plan Monica devised was to purchase a cell phone that in actuality was a spy phone. Monica would have a matching phone designed to receive copies of all messages received or sent to Allison's cell. On the very first day Monica realized from the messages that Allison received and sent that her daughter was completely out of control and need to be reigned back in.
Monica realized she had to be very sly because if Allison found out what she had done, she would be in the dark again. So she never directly confronted her, she instead just dropped little hints about what she new.
Monica thwarted many plans that Allison made. If there was a big party coming up she would call the parents and give them a heads up. A few times she actually called the school to notify them that a few students were planning to skip school. After several months of her mother constantly wrecking her plans she had had enough. She decided to confront her mother about butting in and completely ruining her social life.
