Health, Best Ways To Give A Foot Rub

by Anne Hoston

When our feet are aching there are many things that we can do to make them feel better. However the best and the simplest of remedies for an aching foot is a foot rub. With a foot rub the only things that you will need is a comfortable place to sit down and the desire to give your feet a wonderful relaxation remedy.

The main thing that must be maintained is a relaxing atmosphere. Try using whatever methods that feels good for you when the foot rub is being done. Make sure that the foot rub is therapeutic and not a method of torture. The foot rub must be given in the person’s comfort zone and it mustn’t hurt badly.

When the foot rub is being done if there is any sort of pain it should feel “good”. Another thing that helps with a foot rub is to warm the foot. By gently squeezing the foot between the hands, this causes the blood circulation to move freely and lessens feelings of sensitivity.

A good way to decompress the foot during a foot rub is hold one ankle in one hand and the inside ball of the foot with the other. Pull both of the hands toward you and hold them together briefly. Then decompress the toes next. Here you gently but firmly pull each individual toe upwards.

A foot rub that works on all 4 of the major muscle groups is a marvelous idea. This foot rub eases the tension in the foot as well as in the leg. For this foot rub wrap you hand around an ankle. The other hand should be wrapped around the inside of the foot near the big toe area. To give this foot rub slowly rotate the foot in a clockwise and then anticlockwise direction.

Of course one of the best ways to give a foot rub is just to rub the foot with your thumbs or even your fingers. Using stroking motions is also pleasing in a foot rub. You can try pressing your fingers or thumb into the skin firmly but gently, you then release the pressure off of that area by taking the thumb and fingers away.

Another foot rub can be done at the top of the foot. Here the joints are given a foot rub using several of the fingers. Use gentle motions to work the stress out of the joints. Let your sense of touch indicate where the stress has built up the most.

Having a foot rub is a great way to relax the muscles in the foot after a tiring day at the office or anyplace that involves standing for long periods of time. With a foot rub not only do you take all of the stress out of your foot but you also relax the rest of your body.
