Culture, Living With The Digital Lifestyle

by C. Deveraux

It seems everything in today’s society requires batteries, and if not batteries then most likely it needs a power adapter. Are you receiving requests on a regular basis for batteries? With the cost of batteries these days it’s a smart idea to look into other alternatives.

Rechargeable batteries that come with its own battery charger are just one option. While one set is charging you can be using the other set in your mp3 player, your universal remote or any other power accessories you have, which is probably more than you care to admit.

It’s a good thing that cell phones come with their own battery and charger. The amount of cell phones being used today would be very minimal if they took regular lithium ion batteries. The cost of that alone is astounding. Cell phone batteries do eventually stop recharging and need to be replaced but not anywhere near what it would be using another type of battery.

Next time you’re walking down the street, through the mall, or to school count the number of people listening to either an mp3 player or an ipod. It seems almost everyone today has headphones attached to their head.

Wireless phones have taken off in the last couple years. It is not uncommon to see someone grocery shopping and it appears that they are having a conversation with themselves, complete with a bit of laughter, only when they turn in a different direction there is a tiny little bud sticking out of one ear. It’s hard to believe that tiny little device is a phone.

Even camera’s nowadays no longer use film. Gone are the days of wondering what the pictures you just took will look like. You hope that the lighting was right and everyone smiled. Not anymore. Today with the digital camera’s you use a memory card, the most popular being the SD memory. Just take your picture, look at it on the display screen and if you don’t like it delete it and take another. Do you want a few pictures in color and a few in black and white? No problem, no need to buy special black and white film anymore, you just adjust the setting in your camera and in less than a minute you can be taking beautiful black and white pictures. It is that easy.

The floppy disc is slowly dying out thanks to the invention of flash memory. This little stick is about the size of your baby finger, you plug it into the USB port on your computer and you can save files, music, and pictures to it.
