List building is a very important task of an Internet marketer. Without a mailing list, marketing would be a very daunting task. It is needed to present follow up offers to prospective buyers, especially those who do not buy on the first visit. If you have not started building a list then you are losing out to your competition. Here are some great tips to consider when you start your list-building task: 1. Subscription Box — Provide a subscription box on every web page available if possible. If you only have a subscription box on the home page then you are losing potential subscribers who came in from your other pages. Also try to ensure your subscription box is located at the top or at a visible location on your site.
2. Ads Exchange — Contact other newsletter or e-zine and propose for an ad exchange. Make sure your mailing list subscribers and his are more or less of equal size else it would be a one sided deal. Scan through the e-zine providers in the Internet and choose one of the same niche. 3. Relevant Content — Ensure that your content is relevant as this encourages your subscribers to stay and if they like what they read they might even recommend your newsletter or e-zine to their family and friends. This will help you build your list automatically. Relevant content equals satisfied long term subscribers.
4. Name Squeeze Pages — This type of pages are specifically built to capture your visitor’s name and e-mail address. They are basically only simple pages with a subscription box and an offer or freebie available normally in the form of an e-book or downloadable software. This method is one of the popular choices because it is easy to implement.
5. Forums — Take advantage of the forum traffic. Reply to unanswered questions in the forum and show that you are familiar in your niche. Do not forget to put a link to your subscriber page in the signature box. Make sure you read all the forum rules and regulation before posting.
6. E-zine Classifieds — This only contains four to five lines per advertisement. A very attractive headline will get you more clicks and sign-ups. Classified ads normally go out with the newsletter itself and they can come very cheap. Make sure you link your classified ads to your subscription page and not to any other sales or affiliate page.
7. Use Pop-Ups — Many may not favor this method but it does bring results. Try to keep the size of the pop-up window small and not too flashy. As long as it is a pop-up visitors will notice it anyway. Make sure that your pop-up will be able to close with a simple mouse click.
8. Affiliate Program — You can start an affiliate program for the purpose of promoting your newsletter. Create an e-book and plug in a link to your subscription page. Get affiliates to sell your e-book and offer very high commissions to them. Once you have a sized-up list you can always make more income in your next mailing.
