But for newbies on eBay, the question is one of uncertainty. So, over here, we will go over the advantages and disadvantages of selling used goods vs brand new goods. There are millions of either types of exclusive ebay sellers and those who sell both or switchover between them from time to time. So do lawn mowers and etc. Buyer can’t expect to get the same kind of use or utility from these items as would have gotten from new ones. Buyers understand this, and that is why they are willing only to buy them if they are significantly cheaper. But for a seller auctioning his/her own items which he used for years, ebay pricing should not be a problem at all. But if you are trading it, you need to workout your costs like you would do with new items. Make sure you get your pricing strategy right and you will be ok. Older and rarer they are higher the price buyers would be willing to pay. Beethoven collections are a point in the case. Because it is not the tapes you are selling but what they contain. So mind the shift in value here. Selling new goods is relatively easy if you market well. Pricing will not be criteria anymore. But market competition may drive down margins. Most new goods sellers are confident of selling their merchandises easily despite competition owing to large buyer population which is a question mark for certain old goods. Consider these points when deciding to sell used or brand new goods • Continuous source for old items • Long auctions • Warrantee and return policy • Can you specialize in old goods alone?
